Narcotic Antagonist
Description
Effective in reversal and management of narcotic and synthetic narcotic overdoses.
Mechanism of Action
Reverse effects of narcotics. Compete and displace narcotic molecules from opiate receptors.

: <2 min (IV) 2-10 min (IM/ET)

: <2min (IV) 2-10 min (IM/ET)

: 20-120 min
Half-Life
: 60-90 min
Indications
1.) Narcotic (i.e. morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl, demerol, paregoric, methadone, heroin, percodan, and tylox overdose.)
2.)Synthetic analgesic overdose including: Nabain, Stadol, Talwin, Darvon, and alcoholic coma.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity to drug
Precautions
Withdrawal effects, short acting (augmenting 5 minutes), not used as a "Coma Cocktail"
Side effects
Rare
Adult Dose
1-2 mg
Pedi-Dose
under 5 y/o give .1mg/kg. Older than 5 y/o give 2.0 mg.
Max Dose
Repeat as necessary
