    Structures in different species that are derived from a common structure in a common ancestor.

    Structures in different species that are similar in appearance but have a different evolutionary history.

    Structures in different species that perform a similar function.

    A feature or species that arose early in a lineage.

    Nerves will follow what ever it is they innervate throughout an individual's ontogeny.
