  1. define eating disorder
    serious and sometimes long term changes in ones eating patterns in response or desire to modify diet for health or appearance. linked to mental health.
  2. Anorexia Nervosa. Define
    Mental loss or denial of appetite followed by self starvation. Social pressures and distorted body image.
  3. Bulimia Nervosa.
    Binge eating and purging. Laxatives or vomiting, fasting, and or excessive exercise
  4. EDNOS
    Eating disorders not otherwise specified. They include all the traits of the true eating disorders minus one. A woman may seem to be anorexic but she still continues to have a reg menstral cycle. Bulimic person my fall into the correct weight range but they still binge and purge.
  5. Set point theory
    idea that humans have a predetermined body weight or body fat content, Which the body closely regulates
  6. Basal Metabolism BMR
    is the min amount of energy burned in a fasting state. 60-70% of total energy burned. includes all the process to keep a body alive in a resting state. Does not include digestion, absorbtion, or physical activity.
  7. Resting metabolic rate RMR
    about 6%. this is when a person is not fully fasting
