    Shortness of breath
  2. Orthopnea
    difficulty with breathing in a lying position
  3. Hypoxia
    low oxygen level
  4. Atelectasis
    COllapsed lung or part of a lung
  5. Pneumothorax
    presence of air in pleural cavity that causes lungs to collapse
  6. Rhonchus
    Dry, rattling sound caused by partial bronchial constriction
  7. Crackles (rales)
    Abnormal sounds
  8. Thoracentesis
    Insertion of a large needle through the chest into the pleural space
  9. Hypoxemia
    Low level of oxygen in the blood
  10. Pneumonectomy
    Removal of an entire lung
  11. Empyema
    Presence of purulent exudate in the pleural cavity
  12. Thoracotomy
    Surgical opening of the chest wall
  13. Hemothorax
    Blood in the lung
  14. Tissue perfusion
    Blood flow through the blood vessels of tissue
  15. Hypercapnia
    Excessive level of CO2 in the blood
  16. Tachypnea
    Rapid respiratory rate
