Lorazepam (ativan)

Benzodiazepine

Binds to the Benzo receptor, causes sedation

sedation,anxiety,status epilepitcus

Know sensitivity to drug, sleep apnea, shock, coma

headache, drowziness, syncope, respiratory depression

analgesia or sedationslow iv 2mg or .44mg/kg which ever is smaller

Seizures 4mg iv over two to five minutes, max dose 8mg in 12 hours

Analgesia sedation .05mg/kg 2mg max dose

Seizures IV slow push two to five min

Adolescents .07 mg/kg max dose 4mg

Children/infants .1mg/kg max dose 4mg

Neonates .05mg/kg
