Estuary

An estuary is a "partly enclosed body of water" in which river water (fresh water) mixes with ocean water (salt water) (Encyclopedia Britannica Online).
An estuary is an ecosystem that occupies the protected space between
solid land and open water; visually, estuaries often represent the shift
from land to ocean with the presence of a peninsula or barrier islands (EPA, 2007),
although sometimes protective borders are less-visible, like reefs.
Estuaries are protected like rivers, but have tides like the open ocean

Tombolo's are ridges of sand and shingle which join the mainland
to an island. Tombolo's are created through the process of longshore drift.
Where there is a change in the shape of the land, a spit forms in the shallow /
sheltered water. A tombolo is formed where the spit continues to grow until it
reaches an island, forming a link with the mainland.

Barchan Sand Dune A more pronounced, crescent shaped dune with a sharp ridge.

Transverse Dune
- Resembles the ripples of sand on a beach. The ripples of sand
migrate with the wind, progressing forward as their leeward faces
release sand.
