  1. What are the ten Beatitudes?
    • 1) Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    • 2) Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
    • 3) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
    • 4) Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
    • 5) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
    • 6) Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
    • 7) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
    • 8) Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  2. Poor in spirit
    - WHat does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice it?
    - How might I sfuffer if I practice this?
    • No matter what we are, poor or rich, we're all children of God; people who not haave much focus more on God because they are grateful for every little thing
    • People will look up to you more
    • People might think you're doing it for praise.
  3. They who mourn
    - What does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • People recgnize their own sadness, but also the suffering and sadness of others; and can comfort other people
    • make you humble and compassionate
    • too much sorrow can lead to depressoin
  4. The meek
    - Whta does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • People who aren't selfish will live happy, patient lives
    • I will learn patience
    • I may care for others more than myself and my own needs
  5. They who hunger and thirst
    - What does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • we are not content with the way things are, so we long in hunger for things to get better
    • Lets us grow in holiness, justice and truth
    • keep getting disappointed because things in the world may not be getting better
  6. Clean of Heart
    - Whta does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • People see things for what they really are; not what they think they are or want them to be You learn to look deeper into someone else instead of judging them
    • if friends with someone who judges, it may be hard to be friends with that person (lose friendships)
  7. The merciful
    - What does this Beatitude mean?
    - how am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • Not everyone is perfect; we all need to forgive
    • creating better relationships with God and others; we wont be so angry
    • family and friend smight not understand why we forgive people who hurt us; might be misunderstood
  8. The peacemakers
    - What does this Beatitude mean?
    - How am I blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • people who make peace make us closer to God because their actions reflect God's
    • the world wouldn't be so violent
    • people may try to take advantage of my not wanting to start problems
  9. The persecuted
    - What does this beatitude mean?
    - How might I be blessed if I practice this?
    - How might I suffer if I practice this?
    • People who don't care about being teased because of their belief of what is right
    • I will not care if I am teased by people because I am defending what I believe in
    • I may be teased constantly
