Mechanism of Action
Potent synthetic catecholamine that increases heart rate in bradycardias that are refractory to atropine. Increase cardiac contractile force, bronchodilation.

Indications
Bradycardias refractory to atropine

Contraindications
Should not be used to increase blood pressure in cardiogenic shock

Precautions
Ventricular irritability, can be deactivated by alkaline solutions, used with caution after recent MI, external pacing should be used instead if available.

Headache, palpitation, tachydysrthythmias, tremors

Adult Dose
1mg placed in 500ml of D5W infused at 2 -10 ug/min and titrated to desired effects or PVC’s occur
