Loop diuretic with rapid onset and short duration of action

Mechanism of Action
Inhibits sodium and chloride re-absorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle. (1mg of Bumex equal to 40mg of Lasix)

Indications
Treatment of edema associated with CHF, hepatic and renal disease.

Contraindications
anuria, hepatic cirrhosis, hepatic coma, Electrolye depletion

Precautions
Volume and electrolyte depletion may cause muscle cramps, dizziness, hypotension, headache, nausea

1mg slow IV or IM
