Albuterol

    B2-adrenergic receptor agonist
  2. Actions
    Causes bronchiodilaton and relief of bronchospasm
  3. Indications
    Bronchial asthma; Reversiable bronchospasm associated with chronic brochtis and causes of emphysema
  4. Contraindications
    Patients with a known hypersensitivity to the drug.
  5. Side effects/Precautions
    Palpatations, anxiety, nausea, dizziness Monitor vital signs. Use caution when administering to pts with a Hx of crdiovascular disease or hypertension.
  6. Dosage and Administration
    • Adult:2.5mg of the drug placed in 3ml of normal saline for inhalation and administer by updraft @ 7-10 LPM may repeat every 5 minutes if heart rate is less then 150
    • Pediatric:25mg of the drug placed in 3ml of normal saline for inhalation and administered by updraft @ 7-10 LPM may reapeat every 5 bminutes if heart rate is less than 200
