  2. Precautions of CCBs?
    • myasthenia-like neuromuscular disease
    • increased risk of muscle weakness and respiratory depression
  3. Does dyhydropyridine-induced peripheral odema require diuretic treatment? why or why not?
    no, due to risk of volume depletion
  4. Dose and adverse effects of amlodipine?
    dose: 2.5-5mg daily

    headache, flushing, peripheral oedema and palpitations

    pulmonary oedema, hypotension, tachycardia, chest pain, dyspepsia, constipation, paraesthesia, muscle cramps, rash
  5. Dose of diltiazem? in HTN and HF?

    HTN - 180-240mg daily

  9. Verapamil

    • 80mg two or three times daily upto 160 2-3x daily
    • 180-240mg CR

    Can increase concentration of dabigatran therefore increase bleeding risk

    Counselling: may increase effects of alcohol, swallow CR tabs whole

    • peripheral oedema, rash, headache, dizziness, flushing, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation
    • gynaecomastia, hepatitis
