Transmissible spongiform encephalopathy:
- A gene in mammals codes for a brain protein that, on rare occasions, can fold unnaturally, then copies intself. These proteins no longer provide normal function to the brain. Eventually the brain fills with these useless proteins until brain damage occurs. Usually takes x10 years to develope, however death in eminant.
