  1. what are the three parts of the wire?
    • outer coil
    • mandral
    • safety ribbon
  2. what is the outer coil?
    it gives flexability to the wire. it is coated in either teflon or polythylene to decrease the possibility of thrombus forming in the tiny coils
  3. what is the mandral?
    it is also known as inner coil. very thin,stiff wire. it gives strenght and pushability to wire
  4. what is the safety ribbon?
    a soldered tip that allows the wire to retain shape, but be flexable through advancement in arteries. it helps with the deflection off the arteries to prevent some perferations or lacerations in arteries
