  1. Psychological disorder
    Deviant, distressful,& dysfunctional patterns of thoughts, feelings,& action
  2. Medical model
    concept that diseases, in this case psychological disorders, have physical causes that can be diagnosed, treated, and in most cases, cure it, often through treatment in a hospital
  3. Anxiety disorder
    psychological disorders characterized by distressing, persistent anxiety or maladaptive behaviors to reduce anxiety
  4. Panic disorders
    Intense dread which person experiences terror and accompanying chest pain, choking, or other frightening sensations
  5. Phobia
    irrational fear avoidance of the specific object, activity, or situations
  6. Obsessive compulsive disorder
    unwanted repetitive thoughts or actions
  7. Ptsd
    haunting memories, nightmares, social withdraws, jumpy anxiety or insomnia. lingers for 4 weeks or more after tramatic experience
  8. Somatoform disorder
    psychological disorder in which symptoms take the somatic form without apparent physical cause
  9. Hypochondriasis
    Interprets normal physical sensations as symptoms of disease
  10. Dissociative disorders
    Disorders which conscious awareness is separated from previous memories, thoughts, and feelings
  11. Dissociative identity disorder
    formerly called multiple personality disorder; person exhibits 2+ distinct personalities
