    • adductor part- adducts thigh and flexes hip

  4. adductor longus and brevis
    • adducts and laterally rotates thigh
    • flexes hip
  5. gracilis
    • adducts thigh
    • flexes knee
  6. pectineus
    • adducts thigh
    • flexes hip
  7. quadriceps femoris (4 muscles)
    • extends knee
    • rectus femoris also flexes hip
  8. tensor fasciae latae
    • flexes hip
    • abducts and medially rotates thigh
    • tenses lateral fascia and stabalizes femur
    • tilts pelvis
  9. gluteus maximus
    • extends hip
    • abducts and laterally rotates thigh
  10. gluteus medius AND minimus
    • abducts and medially rotates thigh
    • tilts pelvis towards supported side
  11. piriformis
    laterally rotates and abducts thigh
  12. biceps femoris (long and short head)
    • flexes knee
    • laterally rotates leg
    • extends hip
  13. semitendinosus AND semimembranosus
    • flexes knee
    • medially rotates leg
    • extends hip
    • mem-tenses capsule of knee joint
  14. gastrocnemius and soleus
    • plantar flexes foot
    • gast- flexes knee
  15. flexor digitorum AND hallucis longus
    • plantar flexes and inverts foot
    • digitorum- flexes 4 lateral toes
    • hallucis- flexes big toe
  16. fibularis longus
    everts and plantar flexes foot
  17. tibialis anterior
    dorsiflexes and inverts foot
  18. tibialis posterior
    plantar flexes and inverts foot
  19. extensor digitorum longus
    • extends four lateral toes
    • dorsiflexes and everts foot
