  10. Nesiritide (Natrecor)
    • Acts as BNP
    • Dilates arteries- decreases SVR
    • Dilates veins- Decreases PAOP
    • Decreased Aldosterone and Norepinepherine levels
    • Promotes fluid and sodium release by blocking R-A-A system
  11. Calcium Channel Blockers
    • Blocks calcium flow through cardiac and smooth muscle cells
    • Ex: nifedipine(Procardia), amlodipine (Norvasc), nicardipine (Cardene), diltiazem (Cardizem), Verapamil (Calan)
  12. Ace inhibitors
    • Vasodilation- block conversion of angiotension I-> Angiotension II (interfere with breakdown of bradykin- produces cough)
    • Diuresis- inhibiton of aldosterone (Decreases retention of sodium and water, ^ K retention)

    • Cause Vasodilation by blocking angiotension II
    • Ex: losartan (Cozar), valsartan (Diovan)

    • Stimulates Alpha and Beta receptors
    • -Causes vasoconstriction and ^BP w/ minimal ^HR- ^Aortic root pressure and CAPP

    • -acts as histamine antagonist in anahlyaxis
  19. Vasopressin (Pitressin)
    • ADH
    • Reduces portal venous pressure through vasoconstriction
    • Increases water reabsorption in renal tubals
    • Causes constriction of coronary, splanchic, GI, pancreatic, skin, and muscular vascular beds
