  1. what is the 3 basic science field?
    life science-biology,ecology and human health

    physical science-measurement,chemistry,physics

    earth science-astronomy,geology,meteorology,oceanography
  2. what is biology?
    a study of living things.
  3. what are the life activity of a living thing?
food getting- procurement of food through eating, absorption,or photosynthesis

respiration- exchange of gases (inhale and exhale)

excretion- elimination of waste (persperiration, bowel elimination)

growth and repair- increase in size or lengthen the lifespan, repair damage tissues.

movement- willful movement of a portion of the living things body.

response- reaction to events or things in the environment.

    • secretion- production and distribution of chemicals that aid digestion, growth
    • and metabolism

reproduction- making of new living organism similar to the parent organism.
  4. what is a cell?
a usually microscopic structure containing nuclear and cytoplasmic material enclosed by a semipermeable membrane and, in plants, a cell wall; the basic structural unit of all organisms.
  5. what are the parts of cell?
cell membrane- controls movement of materials

cell wall- gives rigid structure to the cell.

chloroplast- contains chlorophyll, which enable plants to make their own food.

cytoplasm- jellylike substance inside of a cell.

mitochondria- liberate energy from glucose in cells for cellular activities.

nucleus- directs cell activity; holds DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid)

    ribosome-makes protein from amino acids.

    vacuole-stores material in a cell.
  6. what are the five biological kingdoms?
    animals-

comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli.

    plants-

comprising multicellular organisms that typically produce their own food from inorganic matter by the process of photosynthesis and that have more or less rigid cell walls containing cellulose.

monerans-any organism of the kingdom Monera. (bacteria, blue green algae)

    protists-single celled organism. (protozoa,single celled algae,amoeba,paramecia)

fungi- multicellular decomposers that produce through spores. (yeast, mushroom, molds)
