Description:
Sympathomimetic that is selective for β2 adrenergic receptors but has minor β1 effects

Bronchodialtion

5-15 Minutes inhaled
Peak Effects
: 1-1.5 hours
Duration 3-6 hours
Half-life <3 hours
Indications
Reversible bronchospasms associated with COPD, asthma, allergic reaction, and pulmonary edema
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to the drug
Precautions
B/P, Pulse, ECG results should be monitored
Pt with known heart disease
Side Effects
Palpitations
Tremors
Hypertension
Arrhythmias
Chest pain
Nausea and Vomiting
Anxiety/Nervousness
Headache
Dizziness
Sweating
Adult Dose:
Nebulizer 2.5mg/ 2.5ml NS with O2 at 6-10 L/min
Pedi-Dose:
.15 mg/kg (.03ml/kg) in 2.5ml NS via Small inhaler
Single Pedi dose 2.5ml
Max Dose:
Pre-hospital Adult Dose: 2 doses
