    • Origin: Iliac fossa, ala of the sacrum, transverse processes of T12-L5
    • Insertion: Lesser trochanter of the femur
    • Action: Flexes thigh at hip, flexes vertibral column
  2. Sartorius
    • Origin: Anterior superior iliac spine
    • Insertion: Medial tibia
    • Action: Flexes thigh at hip, rotates thigh laterally, flexes leg at knee, rotates knee medially
  3. Rectus femorus
    • Origin: Anterior inferior iliac spine
    • Insertion: Patella and tibial tuberosity via tendon of quadricepts femoris and pateller ligament
    • Action: Extends leg at knee, flexes thigh at hip
  4. Vastus lateralis
    • Origin: Greater trochanter of the femur, intertrochantaric line, linea aspera pf the femur
    • Insertion: Patella and tibial tuberosity via tendon of quadricepts femoris and pateller ligament
    • Action: Extends leg at knee, stabilizes knee
  5. Vastus mediallis
    • Origin: Linea aspera of the femur, intertrochanteric line
    • Insertion: Patella and tibial tuberosity via tendon of quadricepts femoris and pateller ligament
    • Action: Extends leg at knee, stabilizes patella
  6. Vastus intermedius
    • Origin: Shaft of femur
    • Insertion: Patella and tibial tuberosity via tendon of quadricepts femoris and pateller ligament
    • Action: Extends leg at knee
  7. Pectineus
    • Origin: Superior ramus of pubis
    • Insertion: Linea aspera of femur
    • Action: Adducts thigh, flexes thigh at hip, rotate thigh medially
  8. Tensor fasia(e) latae
    • Origin: Anterior superior iliac spine, iliac crest
    • Insertion: Iliotibial tract
    • Action: Flexes thigh at hip, abducts thigh, rotates thigh medially
  9. Gracilis
    • Origin: Inferior ramus of pubis, body of the pubis
    • Insertion: Medial surface of the tibia
    • Action: Adducts thigh, flexes leg at knee, rotates leg medially
  10. Adductor longus
    • Origin: Pubis - near pubic symphysis
    • Insertion: Linea aspera of the femur
    • Action: Adducts thigh, flexes thigh at hip, rotates thigh medially
  11. Adductor brevis
    • Origin: Body of the pubis, inferior ramus of the pubis
    • Insertion: Linea aspera of the femur
    • Action: Adducts thigh, rotates thigh medially
  12. Adductor magnus
    • Origin: Inferior ramus of the pubis, ischeal ramus, ischeal tuberosity
    • Insertion: Linea aspera of the femur
    • Action: Adducts thigh, rotates thigh laterally, flexes thigh at hip
  13. Gluteus maximus
    • Origin: Posterior ilium, sacrum, coccyx
    • Insertion: Iliotibial tract, gluteal tuberosity of the femur
    • Action: Extends thigh at hip, rotates thigh laterally, abducts thigh
  14. Gluteus mediaus
    • Origin: Lateral surface of the illium
    • Insertion: Greater trochanter of the femur
    • Action: Abducts thigh, rotates thigh medially
  15. Gluteus minimis
    • Origin: Lateral surface of the ilium
    • Insertion: Greater throchanter of the femur
    • Action: Abducts thigh, rotates thigh medially
  16. Bicepts femoris: Long head
    • Origin: Ischial tuberosity
    • Insertion: Head of fibula, lateral condyle of the tibia
    • Action: Extends thigh at hip, flexes leg at knee, rotates leg laterally
  17. Bicepts femoris: Short head
    • Origin: Linea aspera
    • Insertion: Head if the fibula, lateral condyle of the tibia
    • Action: Extends thigh at hip, flexes leg at kneww, rotates leg laterally
  18. Semitendinosus
    • Origin: Ishial tuberosity
    • Insertion: Medial tibia
    • Action: Extends thigh at hip, flexes leg at knee, rotates leg medially
  19. Semimembranosus
    • Origin: Ishial tuberosity
    • Insertion: Medial condle of the tibia
    • Action: Extends thigh at hip, flexes leg at knee, rotates leg medially
  20. Piriformis
    • Origin: Lateral surface of the sacrum
    • Insertion: Greater trochanter of the femur
    • Action: Rotate thigh laterally when hip is extended
  21. Quadratis femorus
    • Origin: Ishial tuberosity
    • Insertion: Intertrochantaric crest of the femur
    • Action: Rotates thigh laterally, stabilizes hip
