  1. has to do with splitting. This means blood coming out of the heart goes into the ascending aorta and then aortic arch and into the descending aorta. From here it goes into the abdominal aorta and has to do major bifurcation to get blood to both legs
    Bifurcation
  2. are very small and just before the capillaries
    Arterioles
  3. are between arterioles and venules.
    Metarterioles
  4. run between metarteriole and venules.
    Capillary Beds
  5. are small blood vessels that allow deoxygenated blood to return from capillary beds to larger blood vessels (veins)
    Venules
  6. is the connection between two blood vessels.
    Anatomosis
  7. is the peak of the ventricular contraction pushing blood out of ventricles.
    Systolic Blood Pressure
  8. is the minimal pressure/ relaxation
    Diastolic
  9. is the difference between systolic and the diastolic is referred _____________. 120/80 would give a pulse pressure of 40
    Pulse Pressue
  10. is the mean arterial pressure. This is calculated by taking diastolic pressure and adding 1/3 pulse pressure. 125/80 would give me a map pressure of 95. This would be beneficial because it shows the
    flexibility of your arteries.
    Map Pressure
  11. would be 140/90 or above. This is a concern become we worry about flexibility, and aneurisms.
    Hypertension
  12. would be anything below 90/60. They would have cold extremities and low energy
    Hypotension
  13. is when blood is flowing thru the arteries. The center flows faster because the outside edge has viscosity (thickness). The viscosity will cause dragging when it
makes contact with the vessel wall
    Laminar Flow
  14. is the flow that occurs normally at the heart valve and creates the heart sounds. Blood is spinning as it comes thru heart valves. This sound is abnormal in other vessels it indicates there is atherosclerosis or plaguing going on.
    Turbulent Flow
  15. is abnormal heart sound that can be heard in carotid arteries (neck)
    Bruits
  16. is the turbulent pressure
    Systolic
  17. is the constant pressure
    Diastolic
  18. created by using a blood pressure cuff when taking someone’s blood pressure.
