  6. 4 characteristics that distinguish cardiac from skeletal muscle.
      • Branched
      • Connected via intercalated disks
      • uni-nucleated
      • Does not “summate” (build up little depolarizations over time leading to an action potential), which can cause fatigue.
  7. Role of chordae tendineae?
Prevent flaps (cusps) from blowing back into the atria during ventricular systole. They act as an anchor.
  8. Why might a thrombus (blood clot) in the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery cause sudden death?
It is one of two main arteries supplying the left ventricle with blood without which cells will infarct probably leading to death from cardiogenic shock.
