Midazolam is used before operations or procedures to relax you, make you sleepy and to decrease your memory of the event.This drug may also be used to treat seizures.

IV, IM. Drowsiness (sedative) effects usually are obvious within 15 minutes.

• Respiratory disease, sleep apnoea—compromised respiratory drive may result in hypoventilation and hypoxaemia; close monitoring required.
• Muscle weakness—use lowest effective dose.
• Myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophies and myotonias—respiratory depression prolonged or potentiated; reduce dose
