Moderate to severe pain, adjunct in rapid sequence induction(intubation)

Fentanyl Citrate
Contraindications:
Severe hemorrhage and shock. Patients who have taken MAO inhibitors within the last 14 days should avoid fentanyl! Severe andunpredictable potentiation is possible. Use with caution, if atall in any patient with a head injury (except during RSI).

Side Effects
Drowsiness, hypotension, bradycardia, and respiratory depressionare most common, however it may cause N&V, weakness, anddizziness, increased excitability (paradoxical)

A positive pressure demand valve mask is given to the patient – selfadministered at 50% NO/50% O2. The patient will drop the mask,preventing the induction of anesthesia when unable to hold the maskup any longer
