  25. Contradindications for oral surgery
    • tooth can be saved by another form of treatment.
    • avoided during active infection.
    • patient suffering from any potentially serious disease.
    • tendency for hemorrhage.
    • pregnancy (2nd trimester).
  26. Patient Instructions
    • 3 S's: no smoking, sucking, spitting.
    • swelling gone 3-4 days.
    • day after-rinse with warm salt water.
    • avoid very hot/cold food/liquid.
    • change gauze pads as instructed.
    • diet of soft foods and liquids-1 week.
    • Medicine as prescribed or directed.
    • Call dentist immediately if you keep bleeding.
    • if sutures return in 7 days to remove.
    • *always document number of sutures placed and type of meds given to patient*
