Has a clear matrix in which cells look like bubble going up through clear matrix. Dense and does not move and the most common in the body. Ex. found in larynx

Hyaline cartilage

has a matrix with thick (collagen) fibers. Does not bend much. These are parallel fibers with bubbles. EX: Can be found in the spine.

Fibrocartilage

matrix with a thin (elastic) fibers. Elastic fibers look like black wiggly linescan be found in the ears and nose.

Elastic cartilage

Have osteocytes embedded in a solid mineral matrix. Mineral matrix is called osteon.

Has a liquid matrix (plasma) that contain erythrocytes (RBC), leucocytes (WBC), and thrombocytes (platelets).

Contactile- Cylindrical cells with evident nuclei.

skelatal, cardiac, and smooth

Voluntary muscles that enable movement. Large striated cells with mutiple peripheral nuclei. These are cylindrical with a large nucleus pushed to the sides. There is no branching.

Striated cells with branches and intercalated discs. Involuntary muscle.

Involuntary muscles on organs. Nonstriated cells with tapering ends. These are long and skinny with nucleus in middle.

Conductive cells and supportive cells that enable communication within the body.

Conductive cell with dendrites, nerve cell body, and axon. It conducts impules in the brain.

Are supportive tissues of the neurons.

skin, hair, and nails

Epidermis (top), dermis (middle), hypodermis (bottom)

Is stratified squamous epithelium. Consists of the stratum corneum, stratum lucidum, stratum granulosum, stratum spinosum, and stratum basale.
