Frontal Lobe
(front of cortex, forehead) about half the volume of the brain, very mysterious. Receives and coordinates messages from other 3 lobes of the cortex. Movements of body.
-
Parietal Lobe
(top back half) receives sensory information from all over the body, from sense receptors in the skin, muscles, joints, internal organs, and taste buds.
-
Temporal Lobe
(front of occipital lobe, roughly behind the temples.) It completes complex visual tasks such as recognizing faces and interpreting the facial emotions of others. Receives and processes information from the ears, contributes to balance and equilibrium, and regulates emotions and motivations such as anxiety, pleasure, and anger. (comprehend language)
-
Occipital Lobe
(very back) recieves and procesess visual information

The Nervous System is divided into what two parts?
Central Nervous System & Peripheral Nervous System
-
Peripheral Nervous System is Divided into what two parts?
Autonomic division & Somatic division
-
Somatic division
carries information to the CNS from the senses and from the CNS to the skeletal muscles.
-
Autonomic division
regulates internal environment. Carries information from the CNS to organs, blood vessels, & glands.
-
Central Nervous System
Brain & Spinal Cord
-
Autonomic division is divided into what two parts?
Sympathetic (arouses the body) & Parasympathetic (calms after arousal)
