  1. Frontal plane (coronal)
    Vertical plane dividing the body or structure into the anterior (front) and posterior (back) positions.
  2. Sagittal plane (lateral)
    Lengthwise vertical plane dividing the body into right and left sides.
  3. Transverse plane (cross-sectional or axial)
    Horizontal plane running across the body parallel to the ground. Divides the body into upper and lower portions.
