  1. anterior (ventral)
    Front surface of the body.
  2. ventral

  3. posterior (dorsal)
    The back side of the body.
  4. dorsal

  5. deep
    Away from the surface.
  6. superficial
    On the surface.
  7. proximal
    Near the point of attachment to the trunk or beginning of a structure.
  8. distal
    Far from the point of attachment to the trunk or far from the beginning of a structure.
  9. inferior (caudal)
    Below another structure.
  10. superior
    Above another structure.
  11. medial
    Pertiaing to the middle.
  12. lateral
    Pertaining to the side.
  13. supine
    Lying on the back (face up.)
  14. prone
    Lying on the belly (face down.)
