  1. Mary Jane
    A shoe held to the foot by a bar across the instep
  2. Balmoral
    A style of boot or ankle boot which follows the oxford style of facing with the vamp overlaying the quarters
  3. Bellows Tongue
    A tongue of a lace up shoe which is stitched to the lining side of the facings as well as vamp to help prevent water from getting inside

    The strap of an sandal or shoe which passes around the ankle or lower end of the leg
  18. Arch support
    An insole with built up area to provide support to the metayarsal arch
  19. Last
    A smooth representation of the foot around which is made with allowances for fit and shaped to suit manufacturing processes
  20. Quarter
    The back half of the shoe's upper
  21. Throat
    The connecting line between the rear edge of the vamp and the front part of the quarter
  22. Shank
    The bridge between thw heel and ball area of the shoe
  23. Heel Seat
    The inside heel area upon which the heel sits
  24. Toe box
    This is the roof of the toe end of the shoe. Keeps the shape of the toe in tact and provides room for the toe.

    A stiff piece of material placed at the heel of a shoe between the lining and upper in order to retain the shape of the shoe.
