  1. What is "ethnocentrism"?
    It refers to the tendency to see things from the point of view of the observer's culture rather than from that of the observed. It includes the beliefs that one's culture is superior to others and that what is true of one's culture is true of other cultures.
  2. What does "deviance" mean?
    - Behaviours that people might see as strange or improper, but that are not crimes.
  3. What is meant by "class"?
    It refers to only one's position in the general economic hierarchy. In all cases, class refers to a category of individuals with similar economic power, as indicated by any of the following: property ownership, educational qualifications, labour power, or occupation.
  4. What is "socialization"?
    Some one is taught to live among the other humans, being socialized you have the motivation, skills, and knowledge to live with others in group relationships.
  5. What is "relativism"?
    It recognizes that what counts as deviance varies across cultures and through history, and therefore does not judge whether such acts are right or wrong. Such relativism is typically a purely academic orientation.

    This debates concern the relative importance of an individual's innate qualities ("nature", i.e. nativism, or innatism) versus personal experiences ("nurture", i.e. empiricism or behaviorism) in determining or causing individual differences in physical and behavioral traits.
  8. Describe what is meant by "environment criminology"
    Uses principles of environmental design to make it more difficult or impossible for people to commit crimes.
  9. What is "classical criminology"?
    It aims to deter crime through the rational and calibrated use of the state's formal system of punishment. The desire to reduce crime.
