What does a survival analysis (time-to-event) do?
Determines and/or compares the survival or disease-free period of a group or groups over time.
*Estimates the probability of survival as a function of time from a specific starting point.
List 1 definite and 3 potential parameters for a survival analysis:
1. Time*
2. Survival vs death
3. Disease free vs disease occurrence
4. adverse event vs no adverse event
List the two statistical tests associated with a kaplan-meier curve.
1. Cox proportional hazard model (reports a p-value)
2. Hazard Ratio (HR)
Define a cox proportional hazard model:
Used to determine relationships between the time to an event and the explanatory variables.
Define a regression analysis:
Provides a functional relationship allowing for an outcome prediction based on an intervention.
On a regression analysis, x-axis is usually _______ and y-axis is usually _______.
x-axis is usually the independent variable
y-axis is usually the dependent variable
Parameters:
- Normal distribution
- Continuous data
- 1 dependent and 1 independent variable.
Which type of regression analysis should be used?
Simple linear regression.
Parameters:
- Normal distribution
- Continuous data
- 1 dependent and > 1 independent variable.
Which type of regression analysis should be used?
Multiple linear regression.
*A more complex analysis.
Parameters:
- Normal distribution
- Categorical data
- 1 dependent and 1 independent variable.
Which type of regression analysis should be used?
SImple logistic regression.
Response variable =
Explanatory variable =
- response variable = dependent variable
- explanatory variable = independent variable
Statistical outcomes for a simple logistic regression (4):
1. Regression equation
2. Odds ratio
3. 95% CI
4. P-value
