AP Lumbar aka AP Lumbosacral
- 14 x 17” Cassette, 40” SID – Use gonadal shield
- Palpate top of iliac crest – CR at this level
- Set center of film to central ray
- Vertical CR to midline of body
- Collimate “9x 16”
- R or L marker away from structures
- Instruct patient to exhale and hold

AP Lumbopelvic
- Up right, against bucky with gonadal shielding
- 14x17 film, 40" SID
- Horizontal CR 1 1/2" below top of iliac crest through midline of the body
- Instruct pt to take a deep breath in, blow it all the way out & hold

Lateral Lumbosacral
- 14 x 17” Cassette, 40” SID
- Instruct patient to cross arms to get them out of the way
- Palpate top of iliac crest – CR at this level
- Set center of film to central ray
- Vertical CR between ASIS and PSIS
- Instruct patient to side-step until hip just touches bucky
- Collimate 10”x16”
- R or L marker away from structures
- Instruct patient to exhale and hold

AP Thoracic
- Move bucky so middle of 14x17” cassette is in middle of thoracic spine, slightly inferior to the sternal angle, 40" SID
- Vertical CR to midline of body and CR to center of film
- Collimate to 7” x 16”
- Filter on upper thoracic area
- R or L marker away from structures
- Instruct patient to inhale and hold

Lateral Thoracic
- Middle of 14 x 17” cassette, middle of spine (no change after AP) 40”SID
- Vertical CR posterior glenohumeral joint and CR to center of film
- Instruct patient to place hands lightly on head and elbows straight ahead
- Instruct patient to side-step until shoulder touches bucky
- Collimate 10” x 16”
- Filter lower thoracic spine for consistent density on film
- R or L marker away from structures
- Instruct patient to inhale and hold

APOM
- Film 10”x 12”
- SID = 40”
- CR – Horizontal at C1 just below mastoid tip
- Set center of film to central ray
- Collimate to 5 “x 5”
- R or L marker away from structures
- Normal breathing is preferred

Lateral Cervical
- Film 10 x 12”
- SID = 72”
- CR – Horizontal to patient, just below angle of the mandible
- At the level of the hyoid bone (not thyroid cartilage)
- Set center of film to central ray
- Collimate no less that 11” top to bottom, 9” side to side
- R or L marker under chin
- Normal breathing is preferred

AP Lower Cervical
- Film 10”x 12”
- SID 40” but adjusted for tube tilt to 37”
- (move tube 1” closer for every 5 o to maintain 40” SID)
- 15o cephalad tube tilt
- CR – at thyroid cartilage to exit at C4
- Set center of film to central ray
- Collimate to 6”x8”
- R or L marker away from structures
- Normal breathing is preferred

Swimmer's View
- Lateral postion with hand behind skull to get it out of the way
- 10x12 film, 72 inches SID
- Horizontal ray thru C4, P to ear, thru mastoid
- Suspended expiration to clear the lower cervical region

Lumbar Oblique
- 45 degrees to the bucky
- A: CR vert & horiz 1" lateral (tube side) from L3 SP
- P: CR vert 2" medial to ASIS on tube side & horiz 1" above the iliac crest on tube side
- 10 x 12 film, 40 SID
- Suspended expiration

Cervical Oblique
- Pt 45 degrees to bucky with head slightly elevated
- 10 x 12 film, 40 SID
- CR thyroid cartilage for P & angle of mandible for A
- CR 15 degrees caudal for A and 15 degrees cephalad for P

PA Chest
- 14 x 17 film, 72" SID
- Pt facing bucky with chin resting on bucky
- CR Vert midline of body, horiz to center of film
- Exposure taken at the end of the third inhalation

L5-S1 Lateral Spot Lateral
- Patient is in true lateral position
- 10 x 12” cassette or smallest film available
- Horizontal CR through L5-S1,
- Vertical CR to 1” posterior to the mid-axillary line
- Collimate no more than 8”x10”
- R or L marker to indicate side against Bucky
- Instruct patient to exhale and hold
