Rectus Abdominus
Patient supine with knees bent, feet flat on table- Stabilize across the knees
- Ask patient to perform a partial sit-up
- Pressure – against crossed arms from Anterior to Posterior
- Innervation - Iliohypogastric, Ilioinguinal

Abdominal Oblique Group - Lateral & Medial
Same procedure as abdominal oblique except. Patient will laterally flex trunk towards side being tested and then rotate trunk away from side being tested.- Innervation - Iliohypogastric & Ilioinguinal

Sternocleidomastoid
 - Patient supine, head rotated to the side opposite being tested.
- Stabilize below head and keep your hand there
- Ask patient to lift their head
- Pressure from A to P on patient’s head above their hairline
- Turn head to the opposite side of SCM being tested
- Innervation - Spinal Accessory Nerve

Anterior Medial Neck Flexors
Scalenus Anticus, Medius, Posticus, Longus Colli & Capitus
 - Patient supine, head rotated to the side opposite being tested about 10-15 degrees
- Stabilize below head and keep your hand there
- Ask patient to lift their head
- Pressure from A to P on patient’s head above their hairline
- Turn head to opposite side of the group being tested
- Innervation - Scalenes - C3-C8, Longus - C1-C6

Posterior Neck Extensor Group - Semispinalis Capitis & Cervicis & Splenius Capitis & Cervicis
Patient Prone- Head rotated approximately 10 -15 degrees
- Stabilize below head and keep your hand there
- Ask patient to lift their head
- Pressure from P to A on patient’s head
- Turn head to SAME side of the group being tested
- Innervation - C1-C8

Elbow Flexor Group - Biceps Brachii & Brachialis
 - Patient Seated
- Arm at side, elbow flexed 90 degrees
- Doctor stabilizes above the elbow and applies pressure in the direction of extension
- Innervation - Musculocutaneous

Brachioradialis
Patient Seated- Arm slightly away from their side, elbow flexed 90 degrees, palm faces midline of body
- Doctor stabilizes above the elbow and applies pressure in the direction of extension
- Innervation - Radial

Triceps
 - Patient seated
- Arm slightly abducted, neutral rotation and elbow at slightly less than 90 degrees
- Test – Extension of elbow to lightly less than full extension
- Doctor applies pressure in the direction of flexion
- Innervation - Radial

Anterior Deltoid
 - Patient is seated, arm and elbow at approximately 90 degrees and slightly anterior
- Doctor stands behind patient stabilizes above shoulder joint
- Pressure is from S to I and A to P
- Innervation - Axillary

Middle Deltoid
 - Patient is seated, arm and elbow at approximately 90 degrees
- Doctor stands behind patient stabilizes above shoulder joint
- Pressure is straight Superior to Inferior
- Innervation - Axillary

Posterior Deltoid
 - Patient is seated, arm and elbow at approximately 90 degrees and slightly posterior
- Doctor stands behind patient stabilizes above shoulder joint
- Pressure is S to I and P to A
- Innervation - Axillary
