Dorsal Recumbant with knees flexed. pt on back with knees flexed, buttocks @ lower edge of table, arms placed @ side or on chest. feet placed in stirrups placed wide apart from exam table
USE: pelvic exam, vaginal exam, and digital exam
drape underarms, over breast to feet

Trendelenburg
pt supine. head is lower than legs. table raised at lower end to 30 degrees angle
- USE: treatment of shock or hypotension (LBP)
- drape underarms, over breast to the feet.
Alternate form: pt @ an incline with feet elevated 45 degrees and head lowered

Fowler's
- Sitting or semi-sitting position semi-HOB elevated 45 degrees
- High-HOB elevated 90 degrees
- USE: SOB, dyspnea, head,neck and chest exam
- drape according to exposure

Sim's
- Lateral position. pt placed on L side with a towel or pillow under L cheek.Body wgt on chest. R arm flexed- palms down. R leg flexed @ 90 degree angle with knee bent. L leg straight/slightly flexed (straightens out intestines)
- USE: digital exams enemas, rectal temperature
- use aperture drape or use 2 with separation @ rectal area

prone
- pt lays face down (ventral surface down), head turned to the side , no pillow
- USE: exam the back & vertebral column (dorsal sufaces)
- drape mid-back to below the knees

Dorsal Recumbent
- Patient on back, legs slightly flexed, arms @ side
- USE: exam of breast and abdomen
- full drape-under arms to feet or upper and lower drape with separation at mid-section

- Face-up- legs straight, arms @ side
- USE: exam anterior surface of the body(ex. breast, abdomen, etc)
