  1. Chiaroscuro
    in art is characterized by strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It is also a technical term used by artists and art historians for using contrasts of light to achieve a sense of volume in modeling three-dimensional objects such as the human body.

  2. Cornice
    is generally any horizontal decorative molding that crowns any building or furniture element: the cornice over a door or window, for instance, or the cornice around the edge of a pedestal

  3. Entablature
    refers to the superstructure of moldings and bands which lie horizontally above columns, resting on their capitals

  4. Foreshortening
    refers to the visual effect or optical illusion that an object or distance appears shorter than it actually is because it is angled toward the viewer.
