    • reduces intensity of disease or symptoms but is not curative
  4. EXPLORATIVE
    • "-oscopy"
    • surgical examination to determine nature or extent of disease.
  5. RECONSTRUCTION
    • "-plasty"
    • "-orrhaphy"
    • restores function or appearance to traumatized tissue
  6. TRANSPLANT
    replaces malfunctioning organ
