  34. glomerulonephritis
inflammation of the glomerulus of the kidneys
  35. hydronephrosis
distention of the pelvis and calyces of the kidney casued by urine that cannot flow past an obstruction in a ureter
  36. nephrotic syndrome
group of clicnal symptoms occuring when damage to the glomerulus of the kidney is present and large quanitties of protein are lost through the glomerular membrane into the urine, resultin in severe proteinuria
  37. polycystic kidney disease
hereditary disorder of the kidneys in which grapelike, fluid-filled sacs or cysts replace normal kidney tissue
  38. pyelonephritis
bacterial infection of the renal pelvis of the kidney
  39. renal cell carcinoma
malignant tumor of the kidney occurin in adulthood
  40. vesicoureteral reflux
abnormal backflow (reflux) of urine from the bladder to the ureter
  41. Wilm's tumor
malignant tumor of the kidney occurring predominately in childhood
  42. hemodialysis
process of removing excess fluids and toxins from the blood by continually shunting the patient's blood from the body into a dialysis machine for filterig and then returning the clean blood to the patient's bloodstream
  43. creatinine clearance test
diagnostic test for kidney function tha tmeasues the flitration rate of creatinine, a waste product (of muscle metabolism) normally removed by the kidney
