When shifting, always rember to leave the Pre-select down (the switch located directly in front of the stick shift) when shifting from LOW Reverse to 1st through 5th gears. When shifting from HIGH Reverse to 6th through 10th gears, always remember to leave the Pre-select up.

Also remember to pay close attention to not only your speedometer, but also your RPM gauge.

Lastly, with the exception of gears 4 and 5, train your brain to remember the proper speeds of gears 6 through 10 like this:

    • 1 + 5 = 6 (6th Gear)* = Pre-Select Up
    • (15 MPH)

    • 2 + 5 = 7 (7th Gear)*
    • (25 MPH)

    • 3 + 5 = 8 (8th Gear)*
    • (35 MPH)

    • 4 + 5 = 9 (9th Gear)*
    • (45 MPH)

    • 5 + 5 = 10 (10th Gear)*
    • (55 MPH)

Bear in mind however that out in the "real world" every truck is different, as is their subsequent gear patterns. For example, there are some that are 8 speeders, and others that are 13 speeders, and of course if you're lucky, there are those that are automatic.
