IA (Inferior Alveolar) Block
- anesthetises entire quadrant except buccal tissues of molars
- barrel of syringe must be in opp commisure
- 25 gauge long needle
- parallel to line of occlusal plane, 6-10 mm ^
- coronoid notch/pterygomandibular raphae
- must contact bone
Buccal Block
- buccal soft tissue on md molars
- 25-27 long or short needle
- distal and buccal to terminal molar
- 1-2mm, until you hit bone
Mental Block
- lower lip & chin to midline
- buccal mucosa ant to ment foramen to midline
- 25-27 gauge short needle
- 5-6mm, bubble might occur
