md blocks

  1. IA (Inferior Alveolar) Block
    • anesthetises entire quadrant except buccal tissues of molars
    • barrel of syringe must be in opp commisure
    • 25 gauge long needle
    • parallel to line of occlusal plane, 6-10 mm ^
    • coronoid notch/pterygomandibular raphae
    • must contact bone
  2. Buccal Block
    • buccal soft tissue on md molars
    • 25-27 long or short needle
    • distal and buccal to terminal molar
    • 1-2mm, until you hit bone
  3. Mental Block
    • lower lip & chin to midline
    • buccal mucosa ant to ment foramen to midline
    • 25-27 gauge short needle
    • 5-6mm, bubble might occur
