  1. Definition of Probation
    • The conditional freedom granted to an offender.
    • Considered a period of testing.
    • The test is whether the probationer can live in the community without committing new crimes.

    Bail-Money or property that is pledged to or held by the court to ensure that an individual who has been arrested and charged will appear in court on a given date
  3. Means of release from jail -Release on recognizance-
    Release on Recognizance-Release on one’s personal word, one’s own recognizance (character)
