- As it contracts, it propels blood into the circulation, involuntary control.
- Location:
- The walls of the heart.

- Function:
- Propels substances or objects (foodstuffs, urine, a baby) along internal passageways, involuntary control.
- Location:
- Mostly in the walls of hallow organs.
