  1. Indications: mild pain. fever.

    Adverse reactions/side effects: hepatic failure, hepatoxicity
    Acetaminophen/Tylenol
  2. Indications: moderate to severe pain

    adverse reactions/side effects: respiratory depression, confusion, sedation, constipation
    oxycodone & acetaminophen/ percocet
  3. Indications: mild to moderate pain
    Contraindicated in: OB, Lactation, Pedi, Geri (appears on Beers list)

    side effects/ adverse reactions: dizziness, weakness, nausea
    Propoxyphene Napsylate & Acetaminophen/ Darvocet N
  4. indications: short-term management of pain (not to exceed 5 days total for all routes combined).
    contraindicated in OB, Lactation, pedi, & Geri: appears on Beers list

    side effects: drowsiness, Gi bleeding, exfoliative dermatitis, stevens johnsons syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, anaphylaxis
    Ketorolac/Toradol
  5. indications: moderate to moderately severe pain (extended release formations ava to pts requring around the clock pain management)

    Contraindications: OB, lactation. (use cautiously in Geri & pedi)

    side effects: seizures, dizziness, headache, somnolence, constipation, nausea
    Tramadol/ Ultram
