Qin Shi Huangdi

    The greatest conquer of the age, unified more of China than any previous leader. He abolished the feudal estates and divided the empire into provinces. Placing a governor and military general over each province, the nobles could either live in the capital or lose their titles.

    Created a centralized bureaucracy in the first unified nation in East Asia. Standardized weights and measures. Made a uniform system of currency with copper coins. Commissioned scholars to create a simplified form on Chinese script. Made a uniformity decree that even made cart axles the same length so that the ruts in the roads would be the same and thus easier to repair. Authorized a number of large scale building projects. Great Wall.
