BIOLOGY Cells 1

  1. The control center of the cell
    Nucleus

  2. Change stored energy from food and change it into compounds that are more convienent to use. They are the "powerhouse" of the cell.
    Mitochondria

  3. Regulates what enters or leaves the cell. It is semi-permiable and aids in the protection of the cell.
    Cell Membrane

  4. This modifies, collects, packages and distributes molecules made at one location of the cell and used in another.
    Golgi Apparatus

  5. A small region inside the nucleus that is made up of RNA and proteins.
    Nucleolus

  6. Transports materials through the inside of the cell. Some have ribosomes on them, and some are smooth.
    Endoplasmic Reticulum

  7. Contain chemicals and enzymes necessary for digesting certain materials in the cell.
    Lysosome

  8. A jelly-like substance that contains organelles and moves materials throughout the cell.
    Cytoplasm

  9. Found only in plant cells and surrounds and protects the cell.
    Cell Wall

  10. Structures where proteins are made.
    Ribosomes

  11. Trap energy from the sunlight and convert it to chdmical energy. Found only in plant cells.
    Chloroplasts

  12. Store water, salts, carbohydrates, and proteins. Animal cells have multiple small ones and plants have one main one.
    Vacuoles
