  1. Ashlar Blocks
    Carefully cut blocks at stone used in construction and usually fitted together without mortar
  2. Crusades
    Were a series of religiously sanctioned military campaigns waged by much of Western Christian Europe, particularly by the Franks of France and the Holy Roman Empire
  3. Diaphragm Arches
    A wall bearing arch that divides or compartmentalizes a vault of ceiling
  4. Engaged Column
    A column-like, nonfunctional form projecting from a wall and articulating it visually
  5. Facade
    Front of a building
  6. Jambs
    The side of a doorway or window frame
  7. Mandorla
    An almond-shaped nimbus around the figure of Christ or images of saints indicating divinity
  8. Pilgrimage
    A long quest/journey or search of great moral significance
  9. Pilgrimage Choir
    The unit in a Romanesque Church composed of the apse, ambulatory, and radiating chapels
  10. Portal

    Chapels arranged around the ambulatory and sometimes the transept of a medieval church
  12. Romanesque Arch
    Rounded arch used in Romanesque architecture
  13. Square Schematism
    Crossing square formed by name and transept used as the standard unit of measurement for the rest of the church
  14. Vulgate
    A Latin version of the Bible prepared by St. Jerome in the 4th century, serving as the authorized version of the Roman Catholic Church
