  1. Gas Exchange
    The process of moving oxygen and carbon dioxide in opposite directions between the environment, bodily fluids, and cells.
  2. Respiratory System
    All the structures of an animal that contribute to gas exchange.
  3. Atmospheric(or barometric) pressure
    The gases in air exert pressure on the body surfaces of animals.
  4. Partial Pressure
    The individual pressure of each gas. Symbolized by a capital P and a subscript depending on the gas.
  5. Ventilation
    The process of bringing oxygenated water of air into contact with a gas exchange surface.
