    bonds formed as a result of electron attraction with opposite charges

    bond resulting from the attraction of a negatively charged atom to the positively charged atom

    involves hydrogen
  14. Hydrophilic
    "water loving"

    when polar atoms interact with water by hydrogen bonds
  15. hydrophobic
    "water hating"

    non polar molecules

    nonpolar molecules attract to other nonpolar molecules
  16. van der Waals forces
    interactions between nonpolar substances

    they occur when nonpolar molecules are in close proximity
