RNA AND DNA chapter 12.txt

  1. Nucleotides:
units that make up DNA. Made up of: a 5-carbon sugar calles deoxyribose, a phosphate group and a nitrogen base. There are four nitrogen bases in DNA adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine. The backbone of the DNA is made up of sugar and phosphate groups od each nucleotide.
  2. Thymine:
    Adenine
  3. Guanine:
    cytosine
  4. RNA:
RNA also is made up of a chain of nucleotides. There are 3 differences between RNA and DNA. The sugar in RNA is ribose instead of deoxiribose, RNA is generally single stranded and RNA contains uracil instead of adenine.
