  1. Define Present Tense:
    • Progressive/Repeated Aspect in Present time:
    • I am falling, I fall (habitually)
  2. Define Perfect Tense:
    • Completed Aspect in Present time:
    • I have fallen
  3. Define Aorist Tense:
    • Simple Aspect in the Past time:
    • I fell.
  4. Define Imperfect Tense:
    • Progressive/Repeated Aspect in Past Time:
    • I was falling, I used to fall, I fell (habitually)
  5. Define Pluperfect Tense:
    • Completed Aspect in Past Time:
    • I had fallen
  6. Define Future Tense:
    Simple Aspect in Future Time: I shall fall / Progressive/Repeated Aspect in Future time: I shall be falling, I shall fall habitually.
  7. Define Future Perfect Tense:
    • Completed Aspect in Future Time:
    • I shall have fallen
  8. Define Indicative mood:
    Mood of factual statements and factual questions.
  9. Define subjunctive mood:
    Meaning varies depending on the type of clause or sentence they are in.
  10. Define Optative Mood:
    Meaning varies depending on the type of clause or sentence they are in.
  11. Define Imperative Mood:
    Verbs that are Imperative are commands.
  12. Define Active voice:
    When a verb is in active voice, the subject performs the action. Ex: the man walks down the street. When no direct object is specified, it is intransitive. Ex: Homer educates
  13. Define Passive voice:
    A verb in passive voice means the subject receives the action indicated. ex: Homer is educated by his brother.
  14. Define Middle voice:
    middle voice verbs indicate that the subject performs the action. But the subject has a special interest in the action; the action somehow returns to the subject. It varies from verb to verb. Basically implies an ulterior motive.
  15. Present Indicative Active- I am educating. I educate.
    • -ω -ομεν
    • -εις -ετε
    • -ει -ουσι(ν)
  16. Imperfect Indicative Active- I was educating, I used to educate, I educated (habitually)
    • -ον -ομεν
    • -ες -ετε
    • -ε(ν) - ον
  17. Future Indicative Active- I shall educate, I shall be educating
    • -ω -ομεν
    • -εις -ετε
    • -ει -ουσι(ν)

    Like present indic. active but with 2nd PP
  18. Aorist Indicative Active- I educated
    • -α -αμεν
    • -ας -ατε
    • -ε(ν) -αν
  19. Present Infinitive Active- To be educating, to educate (habitually)
    -ειν only indicates aspect, and the aspect is always progressive/repeated.
  20. Aorist Infinitive Active- to educate
    -αι Remember it's unaugmented, and the it's always accented on the penult, simple aspect only.
  21. Use of the infinitive:
    • just like in English, it can also sometimes take a direct or indirect object. Ex:
    • you command homer to be educating his brother.
    • You command homer to educate his brother.
    • You command homer to educate his brother (once and for all)
