  1. Tell me about yourself
First of all, I want to tank you for your time and giving me this opportunity. I really appreciate it.

    • I'm a junior at LSU.
    • I'm a Math major, however, I originally wanted to do sports medicine because I love sports and I always dreamed of working on the sideline as a team doctor for an NFL team. But then I switched to Math because I just realized I enjoyed Math a lot more than I did biology. I love the aspect of problem solving and taking data and making it into something meaningful.

Which is why I think an opportunity like this would be great for me because the work I'll be doing in this field would align with a lot of my skills and passions.
  2. How did you hear about this position?
My Uncle Tommy is pretty successful in this business, and the company he's with up in Chicago, (Alternative Risk Underwriting), does business with Saftey National, I believe.

He's actually the person who introduced me into the actuary field and recommended I made the switch to this major since I wasn't enjoying the pre-med route.
  3. What's your greatest strength?
    What are you good at?
What sets you apart from others?
I think my greatest strength is that I'm a really good listener. I'm ok with being a leader, however, I'm also ok with being a follower. I'm always listening to what others have to say and building off other people's ideas.

So I think being a great listener allows me to be a great follower, and being a great follower allows me to be a great leader which is something I think would make a great asset to a company.
  4. What's your biggest weakness?
I think my biggest weakness is that I sometimes tend to be pretty quiet and won't speak up when I have questions.

But I know that I have this tendency of being too quiet, so I work really hard to speak up when I have those questions so I can make sure that this weakness doesn't hold me back.
  5. What do you look to gain out of this?
I really look forward to gaining some real world experience and being able to observe actual actuaries to see what their day to day job life is like.

This is a field that really excites me and there's nothing I look forward to more than immersing myself into this environment.
  6. Do you like working in teams or by yourself?
I definitely prefer to work in teams, but I know there's lots of times I work better by myself.

Sometimes when I know what I'm doing, I may prefer to just put my head down and do the work,

On the other hand, working in teams is nice because if it's something I'm not super confident in, I can use those groupmates to further my understanding while also helping my team members with things that I feel more confident in.
  7. What do you know about this company?
  8. What's a time you failed?
I time I would say I failed would be over the course of my first two years in college, I was on the GI bill which paid for my college, so I wasn't really searching for scholarships.

Now that I'm off the GI bill, I'm trying to make a greater effort in searching for those scholarships to help pay for school.
  9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to be graduated from LSU and working a full time job in this field.

And hopefully I'll be growing and learning as much as I can within that time while also passing as many actuary exams as possible.
  10. Why should we hire you for this internship?
I'm a really hard worker. I'll always give the task I'm working on 100% of my effort.

I'm also very curious and I crave to learn more.

Finally, I work very well with everyone I come across and I believe that whatever I'm tasked with, I'll be a great asset.
  11. Can you give an example of a project or experience that showcases your problem-solving skills?
Working in a group where not everyone pulls their weight so I have to create a layout breaking the project into smaller parts in order to slowly chip away at it so we could finish it on time.
